about

In “Percola” the combination of structures, samples and electronic sounds aims to produce contrasting situations.
Following a linear development, the repetitions of the vocal samples are contextualized within distinct units: a rhythmic theme, based on the repetition of the "Ha" sample; a bridge, based on a crescendo of sampled melisma; a central section - tonally characterized - and a new rhythmic theme as a coda.
The thematic materials were interpreted through stylized patterns with a classic and ethnic taste. The effects of transposition, pitch bending and timbre brushing have been applied together with the synthesis sounds Fm and additive.
Samples of male voices are: Ha, Huia, Eh-olgu (guttural), E-ee-e-e-e-e-e-e (melodic), Ohu? Ah, E-heee (melisma-loop), Ogubenai (guttural).

Piece selected for performance at CCMC 2023 competition. March 13, 2023. Doshisha Women's College, Kiotanabe campus, Kioto, Japan.
